Luncheon Meeting
Topic
SEIU Labor Negotiations
Mr. Walters will be presenting an up to the moment discussion of the ongoing SEIU labor negotiations covering the more than 17,000 unionized cleaners in the Capitol area. Mr. Walters is one of the Seyfarth Shaw LLP attorneys representing the Washington Service Contractors Association (WSCA) in the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with SEIU Local 32BJ. He also was one of the attorneys who negotiated the current CBA that expires on October 15, 2011. Local 32BJ has already told the WSCA that it intends to pursue an aggressive bargaining agenda with all area contractors, including improving employees' wages and benefits, creating more full-time jobs, limiting contractors' control over staffing, and dramatically expanding the Union's reach in the Capitol area and beyond in order to gain new members. These proposed changes would significantly impact both unionized and non-union contractors, so we encourage all contractors to attend and learn about the issues that will affect your business and our industry for years to come.
This program may qualify as 1 hour of continuing education/training credit that may be used toward various certification programs.
